The building that houses The Ivey's Hotel has watched Charlotte transform from a regional trading post to a major American city. Originally constructed for J.B. Ivey & Company — one of the South's premier department stores — it stood as a symbol of Charlotte's ambition and taste for nearly a century.
When the hotel opened in June 2017, the design team preserved the building's most extraordinary feature: floors made from 400-year-old French oak. Every plank tells a story older than the nation itself. Frette linens, bespoke furnishings, and 47 individually designed rooms complete the picture.
1924
J.B. Ivey & Company OpensThe department store opens in Uptown Charlotte, becoming a landmark of the city's retail scene.
2017
The Ivey's Hotel Opens — JuneRestored and reimagined. 47 rooms, the Library Lounge, Sophia's Lounge, and Church & Union restaurant.
